Objects of the Foundation

1.  Principal objects

The principal object of the Company is to promote the prevention and control of diving-related diseases and illnesses in human beings, including but not limited to decompression illness (also known as Caisson disease), and in particular:

  1. to promote and advance health and safety issues in relation to diving-related diseases and illness in human beings;
  2. to develop, facilitate and promote programs and training courses in relation to the prevention, treatment and control of diving-related diseases and illness in human beings;
  3. to develop and promote emergency rescue, first aid management, medical advisory and treatment programs, facilities and services for divers to promote the prevention and control of diving-related diseases and illness;
  4. to develop and fund emergency hotlines and other services which provide advice and assistance in the management of diving-related diseases, illnesses and accidents;
  5. to educate and raise community awareness of methods for the prevention, treatment and control of diving-related diseases and illnesses in human beings;
  6. to support and advance knowledge in the field of medical and scientific research in diving-related diseases, illnesses and fatalities; and
  7. such other activities from time to time which further the principal object of the Company.

2.  Ancillary objects

For the purpose of achieving the principal objects set out in clause 1.1, the Company has and will continue to –

  1. administer one or more funds into which all gifts, contributions, donations and bequests to the Company for the purposes of the Company will be credited;
  2. conduct public programs including education programs, social and community programs and research programs;
  3. disseminate information relating to education and community programs and to produce, edit, publish, issue, sell, circulate and preserve such papers, periodicals, books, circulars and other literary matters as are conducive to these objects;
  4. establish and maintain relationships and close communications with corporations, entities, associations, foundations, institutions, organisations and groups including Federal, State and Local Government instrumentalities, authorities and professionals that may have related interests to the Company and utilise their resources and facilities to provide and achieve the objects of the Company;
  5. seek and co-ordinate funding from Federal, State and Local Government and the private sector in the form of grants, gifts, donations and bequests committed to the objects of the Company;
  6. encourage and promote and generally to create greater community awareness in the knowledge and understanding of the objects of the Company;
  7. provide or attract funds for the facilitation of any of the objects of the Company; and
  8. do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the objects and aims of the Company and its Members.
